Cigarette Paper Edge Moistening Brush
Complete with detailed instructions on its use, this CIGARETTE PAPER EDGE MOISTENING BRUSH measures just 4 inches long, with black lacquered handle and metal ferrule holding the bristles. The folded instruction sheet encasing the neat little brush reads:

‘Brush for moistening gummed edges of cigarette papers. Use very little water, if flooded gum will become ineffective, just enough to make gum sticky. Some operators apply water to back side of gum.

‘When in need of another brush request same on your tobacco order and it will be sent free. Pete Moberly – Owensboro KY’

Unusual Rol-A-Cig Cigarette Maker
Still unused in its original box, this is the ROL-A-CIG Cigarette Maker, a 1940s-50s era answer to what was then considered the ‘high cost’ of cigarettes! Directions given on the box explain how to place the cigarette paper between the rollers, then spread the tobacco between them and roll the cigarette.

The directions and much of the other printing on the box are quite faded and difficult to read. We don’t have a manufacturer’s name or other details on this. However, it’s new, complete and an interesting old item for the collector of tobacco items! (5591)

Chesterfield Cigarettes Bridge Guide
BRIDGE AT A GLANCE BY ELY CULBERTSON is a 34-page detailed booklet offering information on the rules and techniques of playing bridge. This edition was published in 1936 as advertising for Liggett & Myers Tobacco Co., manufacturers of Chesterfield Cigarettes.

With everything from the rules of the game through contract bridge scoring between, the covers feature some great ads for Chesterfields.

The booklet is in Very Good condition, although the previous owner did leave a few pencil notes on the front, but these are probably erasable. Some inside pages show minor corner creases. A truly interesting example of vintage tobacciana advertising! (5005)

MONTCLAIR Cigarettes Wall Clock
Here’s a great advertising/promotional item for Montclair Cigarettes. At left side of the clock is a view of the Montclair package, with 'Make the Switch to Big Time Savings' printed beside it. At right is a clock face with the Montclair 'M' on the 12, 3, 6 and 9 slots.

The clock has a Quartz movement that operates with one AA battery (not included). It has a bracket on back for hanging or will sit upright on a shelf. The entire piece is made of hard plastic and was made by Staven Industries, Great Neck, NY. It measures 4.5-inches by 10.75-inches. There are no defects here -- the yellow streak on right side of image is not on the clock!

KOOL Cigarettes Store Counter Matchholder
Back in the days when your purchase of a pack of smokes also included a book or two of matches, this counter display from KOOL Cigarettes served up the match books with ease!

The metal (it appears to be tin!) container features the KOOL package, the singing penguin mascot and the words ‘Menthol Magic.’ Three sides of the basket holding the matches read ‘Smoke KOOL.’

The matchholder measures about 7.25 inches wide, 8 inches tall and 4 inches deep. The basket to hold the matches is about 2.5 inches tall.

There are a few minor scratches on the paint, with some tape residue on the back. Still a great addition to your tobacco or old store collection! (6515)

1920 Velvet Tobacco Ad, Great Images! From the August 1920 issue of The Saturday Evening Post comes this great full-page color ad for Velvet Tobacco. Ain’t It So -- tells of the fellowship of pipe-smoking and how the smoothest of America’s tobaccos can make the world better. In fact, it says you can’t frown when you’re enjoying the mellow taste!

The 10.5-inch by 13-inch ad features a great drawing of three happy men, signed by M. Leon Bracker. The ad is covered with plastic and mounted on a cardboard backing. There are no apparent defects. (5644)
