Pretty 1940s Framed Flowers in Vase
From the early 1940s, here’s a lovely framed print of a nice blue and white vase filled and overflowing with multicolored poppies and other cheery flowers. In a very nice oval wood frame, the size is about 15 inches by 18 inches overall and in EXCELLENT condition.
There is some soil on the indented grooves of the frame and it probably could use repainting. A small chip shows in the bottom edge. The print shows no defects, but we have not removed it from the frame to examine areas that do not show from the front. It’s a vintage beauty! (3985)

1900 Brothers – Framed Photo
This framed photo shows 3 young men from early in the 1900s. They appear clean-cut with fresh haircuts and neat ties/suits. The photo is mounted in a wood frame from the period that measures 9-in. by 15-in. The nails and heavy cardboard backing testify to the age of the piece. The wood appears to be oak that is painted and there are a few spots where the silver paint has peeled. It’s a good tight frame, though, and easily repainted. There is a small moisture spot at bottom right side below pictures, but we see no other defects.

1900 Iowa Family Portrait
This photo, marked Sparks Studio, State Center, Iowa, shows a family from early in the 1900s. Father and mother are seated in center, surrounded by their two daughters and five sons. All are neatly dressed in clothing of the day.
Perhaps as important as the photo here, however, is the wonderfully ornate frame that holds it! It’s solid wood (appears to be oak) with some wonderful bas relief gesso vines around the outer frame. Inside that is a .5-in. wood inset that looks much like one of the decorative maple woods. Finally, closest to the photo is a brilliant gold colored metal piece. These combine to make a wonderfully decorative frame and are clearly indicative of the period of the photo. Outside dimensions are 14.75-in. by 16.75-in. with a viewable area of 11.5-in. by 13.5-in. A nice size – no matter what you want to display!
The only damage we see on this is a very small chip on the corners of the gesso. We see no indication of any cracks or other chips and the damage noted could probably be touched up, rather than repaired. This one’s a beauty! (3110)

Solid Oak Frame, Grandma’s Photo
Probably removed from one of those grand old oval frames, this photo of a woman from the late 1800s has found a home in this highly-polished handmade solid oak frame. It measures 15-in by 23-in. overall, with a viewable area of 11-in. by 16-in. The photo is an original and the frame was carefully handmade in the 1980s. A nice combination – or a home for your favorite family member’s picture!

1970s Marshalltown, Iowa Courthouse Print
Here’s a great print of the clock tower of the Marshall County, Iowa, courthouse in Marshalltown, IA, drawn in the 1970s by Marshalltown artist Ray Frederick and offered to local residents to raise funds for the complete renovation of the stately old building. The renovation was completed and returned the building to its 19th century beauty, while still providing space for county offices and courts.
The print measures about 22-in. by 28-in. and would be beautiful in a dark frame! Condition is AS NEW with no defects. The print will be shipped in a tube to prevent any possible creases or other damage. A great view of a fine old Midwestern building – and a tremendous gift you can easily have framed for the recipient! (3312)
