1930s Chicago Candy Box, GREAT DECO!
Here’s a nifty old one-pound candy box from the Chicago Candy Co. Not Inc., Chicago Ill. We’ve never seen the 'Not Inc.' line before, but it appears here on the side of the box with the manufacturer information!
The box measures about 5 inches wide by 9 inches long by 2 inches deep. The top feels somewhat padded and features a neat deco pattern with the words ‘Old Time Favorites’ printed in black. On the bottom is a listing of the candies included (Orange, Strawberry, Chocolate Butter, Coffee, Peppermint, Maplette Walnut and Vanilla Butter Creams, plus Cocoanut Royals and Brazil Nuts in Cream.)
The pasteboard box is in Very Good condition, although there is some wear and roughness on the corners. It shows slight sun-fading on one side; the inside has some dust. There is slight yellowing on the bottom, with someone’s pencil notes there, too. All in all, though, it’s a wonderful candy box from more than 70 years ago! (4618)
