Cancer Chemotherapy, Biological Approaches
Edited by R.J.C. Harris, head of the division of Experimental Biology and Virology of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, London, BIOLOGICAL APPROACHES TO CANCER CHEMOTHERAPY provides the proceedings from a June, 1960 symposium held at Louvain under the auspices of the World Health Organization and UNESCO. It was published in 1961 by Academic Press, London and New York.
More than 35 international scientists contributed to the symposium, including those from the U.S., U.S.S.R., Germany, England, Belgium, The Netherlands, Italy, Denmark, Sweden and France. All were concerned with the design of drugs for cancer chemotherapy and aware of the need for compounds with increased selectivity for tumors.
The central issue of the symposium was how to utilize information about the properties of living cells in drug design. Their papers are printed here, illustrated with numerous black/white photos and drawings.
The 431-page hardbound book is a scarce one -– and this copy is in Very Good condition, although it is ex lib with the usual library markings. Covers show minor edge/corner/spine end wear, as well as a bit of light scuffing. Inside pages, however, have no apparent defects. It’s an important report! (5362)
