Circa: 1923 Condition: Used Type: stapled Publisher: L.R. Shepherd Publishing, Maxwell IA Pages: 320
Here’s the June 1, 1923 issue of THE IOWA ODD FELLOW, A semi-monthly magazine for the Lodge and Home. Published by the L. R. Shepherd Publishing Co., Maxwell, Iowa, the 30-page issue has some fascinating contents! The cover celebrates Memorial Day, June 12th.
The lead article tells the origin of Odd Fellowship; with additional information from the Grand Lodge, the Rebekah Department, Patriarch’s Militant Department, Sovereign Grand Lodge, and local corespondents.
There’s a price list for meals (27 meals for $5.00), tent and bedding rentals for the Department Council Meeting at Clear Lake in 1923.
Some great advertising is also in the magazine for lodge supplies, costumes, regalia and insurance – some with very interesting pictures, as shown here!
The magazine is in Fair condition, but obviously showing some of its age. The front cover is badly worn on edges and corners and a few of the inside pages also have edge wear and signs of yellowing from age. Still, the magazine is clean, complete and readable. (2592)
