The cover article on this March 1989 issue of LIFE Magazine is BOMBS ON PLANES - A CHILLING EXPOSE OF U.S. AIRPORTS, with a photo of an explosive the size of the one that had killed all 259 people on Pan Am Flight 103. The article detailed investigations that showed security at six major U.S. airports was inadequate and future terrorist attacks were likely.
Other special articles in the issue covered TV at 50, a lengthy article showing television stars from throughout the medium's history; Update on Three Mile Island's cleanup; Civil War and Death in Sudan; Bush grandchildren celebrating the inaugural; Choreographer Jerome Robbins; Arctic Whale hunters in Greenland; and many more! It's an important, fascinating issue - and still timely more than 13 years later!
Condition is Very Good with a few minor tears along the spine and very minor edge wear. There is residue where a mailing label was evidently removed. Inside pages, however, show no apparent defects. (3276) |
