Musical theatre tenor Mario Lanza was selected to play the part of the legendary Enrico Caruso in the MGM film, THE GREAT CARUSO, his third starring motion picture.
The selections in this album coincide with the musical high spots in the film, in which he recreates for his audiences the thrilling moments in the career of Caruso, who died on August 2, 1921.
Songs here include three from ‘Rigoletto,’ two from ‘La Tosca,’ and one each from ‘L’Elisir D’Amore,’ ‘La Gioconda,’ and ‘I Pagliacci.’ It’s a great album!

COMMENTS: The record looks very good, with only minor surface scratches and fingerprints that probably could be removed by cleaning. The album cover is Very Good with minor scuffs and some edge/corner wear.
