Condition: Used
Printed nearly 100 years ago, this cute baby is relaying A Plea For Help to those who read the message. The ‘plea’ concerns Prohibition -- the ‘temtation (sic) of intoxicants in any form, while growing up and reaching the threshold of a useful, happy life.’ It makes quite a statement for those who were seeking to deny alcoholic beverages.
The card’s artwork was by ‘J.O,.H.’ and was produced by A. T. Cook, Hyde Park NY, with that credit hidden in the pretty lace border. On the reverse is a stamp block calling for a ‘one cent stamp’, with space for both a message and address. It’s a neat old card!
Condition is Very Good, although corners are lightly blunted and the margins show some discoloration from age and handling. The reverse has an area of discoloration near the stamp block in top right-hand corner and where a label was removed on message side. See the scans for details and please contact us if you have questions.
