Circa: 1959 Condition: Very Good Type: Spiral bound Publisher: Santa Clara Medical Society North Branch Women's Auxiliary Author: Santa Clara Medical Society Pages: 95 ISBN: predates ISBN
Assembled with enthusiasm, presented with joy and dedicated to children everywhere! That's how the North Branch Women's Auxiliary to the Santa Clara County Medical Society dedicated its 1959 cookbook, Culinary Capers. Some 250 favorite recipes from Auxiliary members, friends and relatives are collected here 'to please your palate and add adventure to your table."
The 95-page spiral bound softcover book was designed as a fund-raiser for the Children's Health Council of the Mid-Peninsula. It was edited by Mrs. W. Norman Sears and Mrs. Julian Pichel and published in this first printing by The National Press, Palo Alto. Illustrations, old wives' tales and herbals are sprinkled throughout the book to add zest and give a whisper of a vast and fascinating field of folklore in food.
Among the more unusual recipes included: Macaroni Lee; Shrimp 'Sort Of' Creole; Roasted Bear Leg; Gesschnetzeltes Kalbfleisch; Cynthia's Pop-overs; Dieter's Dilemma; Waioli Tea Room Date Torte; Jane Wilson's Cake; Whiskey Pie; Fish House Punch; and Yaprakia! All recipes are identified by the contributor and illustrations are signed.
This cookbook is one of those you won't want to put down! It's in Very Good condition with no defects beyond a previous owner's name on the front title page.
