This is a superb example of the art of millefiori. This figurine of a bird, penguin stands 6 1/8 in. tall. In perfect condition. The art of making millefiori is becoming a dying art. Several strands of hot glass are twisted together and then sliced to form the beautiful pattern.The craftsmanship on this figurine is fabulous. I believe this to be an older example of this glassmaking art.It has a satin finish as opposed to the more commonly found glossy/clear glass finish. |
