EXQUISITE ANTIQUE jewelry BOX Jade inset The sale is for a beautiful antique Chinese box with what appears to be a carved jade inset on the lid and silk interior and tray. It has dovetailed construction and a great deal of decorative etched brass on every exterior surface (except the bottom) including handles on the side. The wood is richly colored with a beautiful patina. I would estimate the box to be from the 1920's and has a metal tag on the back that says: Shanghai made in China. It measures approximately 8" wide, 4" high and 5.5" deep. It is in truly magnificent condtion with one exception: It has an easy to overlook very narrow split in the wood that I have pictured in the closeup near the carved inset.
