Spangle Glass Basket Spangle glass, also known as Vasa Murrhina and sometimes aventurine, has flecks of mica covered with gold, silver, nickel, or copper. Spangle glass is usually cased with a thin layer of clear glass over the multicolored layer. In this case, we have white shading to a rich green, with silver spangles, under a clear glass casing. Twisted handle, deeply crimped edge, believed to be English-made. 8 inches x 10, in mint condition.

B541

Bristol vase, Victorian Bristol vase, 4 inches x 13, three blue grape clusters on white. Some yellowish discoloration on lower section. No logo. A couple of the photos make it look as though the vase leans a bit; that's just my poor photographic skills. The vase stands very upright.

A649

American Verlys Pine Cone Bowl Smokey Topaz This beautiful Pinecone bowl by Verlys was produced by the American Holophane Co., a division of Holophane France, which produced Verlys glass in that country. This color is called Smokey Topaz, and the bowl has the molded signature in the bottom. It is NOT one of the later Heisey-produced items. It has an etched and polished finish on the outside of the bowl, and the one photo indicates some very minor flea-bites on one "pine needle". A lovely piece in an underrated color.
