Morgantown Glass Guild

Morgantown Glass Guild was an outgrowth of Old Morgantown which is a general name for the various glassworks of Morgantown, West Virginia which were Morgantown Glass Works (1899), later Economy Tumbler and Economy Glassworks (1903 through the 20's) and Morgantown Glass Works from 1929-37. In 1939 Morgantown Glass Guild opened in the old Morgantown factory and produced glass until bought out by Fostoria and closed in 1971. (History thanks to the Old Morgantown Glass Collectors Guild website.)

Morgantown Glass Guild sherbet glasses This 1970 sherbet glasses from the Morgantown Glass Guild Montego line, in 'gypsy fire' are absolutely stunning. The color is a rich orange-red while the lines are the very simple and clean style from the mod era. This color of glass isn't easy to find so snap these up before they're gone. One of the two (sold as a pair) has the original Morgantown label and both glasses are etched on the bottom. They stand 3.25 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter. The 2nd photo makes them look as if they lean away from each other a bit, but that's distortion caused by the extreme close-up. The last picture is an attempt to show the Morgantown etching on teh bottom. Gorgeous, baby.

Morgantown Wine Glasses in Pineapple I love the color name - Pineapple - it's so expressive of this vibrant yellow. These wineglasses from Morgantown Glass Guild in the Montego line are like new. They stand 5 inches tall, 3.75 inches in diameter and were made in 1970. Although listed as wineglasses, their balloon shape makes me think more of brandy snifters, but it's all part of the mod look from 1970. Very Fifth Dimension, That Girl, Thomas Crown Affair, doncha think?
