Manufacturer: Sarreguemines Commemorative plate celebrating the liberation of Alsace Lorraine in 1918, when French soldiers drove out the Germans who had occupied the region for fifty years. Made by Sarreguemines in 1920 or so, it shows a cheerful soldier and a bevy of four mademoiselles with the legend Cerne de tous cotes, je me rends, which translates roughly to Surrounded, I Surrender. The plate is 8.5 inches in diameter and in excellent condition. There are two holes in the back rim to make it easy to hang the plate on a wall. A very rare find.
