Manufacturer: Caithness
Caithness Glass Ltd of Scotland was founded in 1960 and they have been producing paperweights since 1969. We also have weights by two of their former artists, William Manson (and see PW187 below), and Peter Holmes of Selkirk Glass.
This piece was produced by artist Colin Terris (for 33 years he was the lead designer at Caithness Glass and in 1991 he was created a Member of the Order of the British Empire for his contribution to British Glass) as Congratulations for the Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1981. 1,000 paperweights were issued in the U.S.

| It features red, white and blue spiral rods and spiral bubbles in clear glass above a frosted base. On the bottom is inscribed Caithness Scotland, Congratulations, The Marriage of the Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer, 29/7/81. I also have the original box and a numbered certificate of authenticity, Ser. #A22238. At 3 inches x 2.5, it is in mint condition. |
