Outstanding high relief master carved 3 inch cameo broach/necklace depicting Bacchante Maiden, follower of Dionysus (Bacchus) god of wine and fertility with grape and grape leaves in her hair. This cameo is in a gold setting filligree frame measuring 3 inches by 2 inches can be used as a broach but has a loop for a necklace setting. The composite picture shows the reverse carved procedure allowing the natural beauty of the shell coloring to be reflected in the design. This is a stunning cameo from my daughter's private collection.
