Oh, this suit is fantastic. It's from the 1940's and is wonderful. The tailoring and extra touches are just superb. The jacket is completely lined in a deep brown lining that matches the deep brown tiny checks of the suit. The shoulders are padded and the jacket is double breasted with 6 matching covered buttons. The jacket has 3 faux pockets and a nipped in waist for a very flattering look. The bust measures 38 inches and 17 inches across the back. The sleeves measure 23 inches in length. The jacket measures 27 inches from back neckline to the hem. The inside label reads Fashion Colony, Boston Store, Milwaukee. On the inside of one of the jacket sides is a rectangular piece of lining measuring 4 inches by 2 1/2 inches. This looks original to the jacket but I haven't any idea why it is there. The skirt is a tailored a-line and is unlined with a 7 inch side metal zipper. The waist measures 27 inches and the hips measure 37 inches. The skirt is long measuring 29 1/2 inches from the bottom of the waistband to the hem. The front hem has a 3 1/2 inch v-opening. I'm not sure what the material is. It could be a lightweight wool or even a gaberdine blend. |
