Publisher: Duenewald, 1949; Picture board covers, 37 pages. Illustrations and animations by Julian Wehr. 6 1/2" x 8 1/2". Color illustrated boards with spiral binding; light edge wear. Four tab-activated moveables show the classical Santa and his hard-working night with lots of deliveries. The book also provides color illustrations throughout the non moving pages of the book to give us a full presentation of the poem. Wehr was the solitary paper engineer of his time and this is a nice example from the later stages of his career. Animation One: pull tab to make sugarplums in their heads is in EXCELLENT condition. Animation Two: pull tab makes Santa Claus go in and out of chimney is in VG condition with som tab damage but Santa is fine. Animation Three: pull tab is awesome and when Sants laughs, his little round belly shook like a bowl full of jelly!! Animation 4: complete but damaged. This tab lifted a jack in the box and doll and moved Santa Claus's eyes. The mover tab and eyes are torn off. They need some rework with tape and patience in between the pages. But all image parts except for a small part of the tab paper. It is unusual to see so many of the animations complete and functioning and is very difficult to find in 60 year old children's books. Clean and nice. See image for cover condition. A WONDERFUL Treasure.
