This is a beautiful Minton England Bombay pattern blue and oyster plate. It is in wonderful condition, with one extraordinary professional repair of a fleabite. We cannot even find where the repair was made,even under magnification or black light. However, we did take a before photo, so if you are interested in seeing where the repair was made, please send your email address, and we will send you a photo.
Other than the restoration, the oyster plate is in superb condition, with some fine, clean crazing, in keeping with the age of this plate. The colors are fresh and crisp - not faded.
The diameter is approximately 9 1/2 inches. The mold number is 2245. According to Kovels, the mark is Mark B, and it was registered in November 1879.
This would be an elegant addition to any fine oyster plate collection, a wonderful decorating accent for a blue and white decor, or a fabulous gift for that special oyster plate collector.
