In 1719 Claude Innocentius de Paquier established a hard paste Porcelain factory in Vienna where highly ornamental wares similar to the type made by Meissen were made. After 1744 when the Empress purchased the factory, the Austrian shield (often called the “Beehive”) was stamped on under the glaze.
