Manufacturer: Noritake
Noritake Nippon White and Gold Encrusted #175 Bread and Butter Plate. This is a lovely vintage Nippon fine china dish, Pattern #43061, circa 1906 - 1908. Also known as Christmas Ball, and Pattern #16034.
The soft white color is accented around the rim by a very pale yellow and beautifully decorated with hand applied gold encrusted flowers overlay with raised swags and scroll designs. This outstanding plate measures 6-1/2", and does have a chip on the rim. Price has been discounted to reflect flaw.
It is marked on the back "Hand Painted – Nippon" along with the Kumaru mark which means "Overcoming Difficulties". This logo is also known as the Tree Crest mark, which is the clan crest of the Morimura family. This logo dates after 1904, but before items from Japan had to be marked Japan rather than Nippon.
