An early Mezzotint that is signed on the lower right corner by E Stodart, I am unable to read the first name. The label on the back reads, Sweet China Oranges, Sweet China ,for the title, after F. Wheatley R.A., pure mezzotint by E Stodart R.A. An interesting smaller piece measures about 6 inches by 8 inches including the frame. This piece is in good condition with no satins, it's stamped on the lower left with a JS. Depicts two maids selling oranges. Nicely framed in an ebony and gold trim frame. Apparently around 1918. I have been doing a little more in-depth research on these mezzotints and I believe that the artist is Edward Jackson Stodart. His father, Edward William Stodart(England, 1841 - 1914), was a noted artist who did a good many fine stipple engravings. The date would correspond to the time of his son, Edward Jackson. I was able to locate an image on the net that was quite similar to these in style.
