Detroit 250th Birthday VERNON KILNS PLATE
White and blue ceramic transfer ware plate celebrates the 250th birthday of the city of Detroit, Michigan. Plate is decorated with significant events in Detroit's history including: Antoine de la Mothe Cadallac (Founder of Detroit), the Toll Gate at Grand River Avenue, the First State Capitol (originally located in Detroit), a view of Detroit dated July 25, 1794, the first steam vessel (the 1818 Walk in the Water), the first train out of Detroit in 1837 (the line later became the Michigan Central R.R.), Fort Pontchartrain 1701. The back of the plate is marked with the dates of the significant events and is imprinted with "Courtesy of Burton Historical Collection: Detroit Public Library - Vernon Kilns - U.S.A."

A Real Egg Head!
This is a genuine hand painted egg head, circa 1930's! The egg is attached to part of an egg carton that has been turned in to a blouse. The egg has not been hollowed. The dried yolk rolls around inside. Found in perfect condition after all these years!

Shawnee Smiley Pig Green Clover Cookie Jar
Smiley Pig Cookie Jar made by Shawnee (1939-1944) in cream color decorated with clovers. Mr. Pig is wearing a green scarf, brown suspenders and marked "USA" on the bottom. Over all excellent condition no cracks. Inside lid rim has 3 tiny nicks (very small and only seen when lid is removed from jar).

Amazing Old-Fashioned Measuring Glass
Wow! This huge, quart-size, vintage measuring glass has a wealth of information marked on its sides along with measuring markings for all kinds of liquids and dry ingredients. One group of markings measures from 1 Cill to 1/2 pint to 3 Cills to One Pint and finally to "1 Quart Even Full." Next to that it reads "10 Whole Eggs Make 1 Pint." The liquid weight marks include 4 oz, 8 oz, 12 oz, 1 pound, 20 oz and 24 oz. Next to that the glass reads "1Pound Butter Makes 1 Pint." Then there's a very helpful group of measurements in both "T" cups and "Coffee Cups," followed by the reminder that "Good Milk Contains 10% Cream." Dry measures are also marked: 2 oz, 1/4 pound, 6 oz, 1/2 pound, 10 oz, and finally a pound of "Flour Sifted Even Full." The instruction that "1 Pound Sugar Makes 1 Pint" rounds out this wonderful kitchen collectible. The bottom is marked "Silver & Co. Pat APL 30- '78 May 11- '86 New York". This would make a fantastic milkshake glass, a unique utensil holder or even a tall vase for flowers! Very unusual!
