Herand Openwork Plate - Rothschild Bird Since 1826, Herend has produced one of the most outstanding and distinctive porcelains in a small village near Budapest, Hungary. Each piece is handpainted by the Herend artists. This piece was obtained by me around 1979. Rothschild Bird (RO) by Herend is a handpainted bird, floral, insect design on porcelain. This exquisite round reticulated open work plate measures 9-3/8" in diameter. The Rothschild Bird design is featured in the center and surrounded by a pierced openwork floral border in lovely pastel colors. The slightly flaired plate has a scalloped edge trimmed in gold.The underside of base is marked in blue: Herend Handpainted Hungary #8434/RO. There are no chips or cracks--the condition is absolutely perfect as it has been the pride of my Herend collection!

This lovely round open work basket measures 4-1/4" in diameter and stands 2" high. It is slightly flaired with soft green handles on either side. The Rothschild Bird design is featured in the center and inside open weave is white trimmed in gold. The scalloped edge on top is also trimmed with gold as is the base. Outside weave of bowl is white trimmed with pink. The underside of base is marked in blue: Herend Handpainted Hungary #7413/RO. There are no chips or cracks - MINT!

Each piece is handpainted by the Herend artists. This piece was obtained by me around 1979. Rothschild Bird (RO) by Herend is a handpainted bird, floral, insect design on porcelain. This lovely oval open work basket measures 8-1/4" long, 6-1/4" wide and stands 2-1/4" high. The center features the Rothschild Bird design with four butterflys and gold trims the openwork both inside and out. The slightly flaired scalloped edge on top is trimmed in gold as well as the base. The underside of base is marked in blue: Herend Handpainted Hungary #7403/RO. There are no chips or cracks - MINT!
