VINTAGE GIEN MAJOLICA OYSTER PLATE The Gien factory was founded in central France in 1893. This lovely cream majolica oyster plate measures approximately 9.75" in diameter and features a seaweed design, center well and holds six oysters. It is marked in black "Gien" under glaze with their famous trademark depicting a castle, Gien, France...this mark was in use between 1971-1984. There are no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. There is some crazing due to age, but does not detract from it's beauty. This would blend with any off white serving set and could be used as a snack platter.
