Since 1826, Herend has produced one of the most outstanding and distinctive porcelains in a small village near Budapest, Hungary. Each piece is handpainted by the Herend artists. This piece was obtained by me around 1979. Rothschild Bird (RO) by Herend is a handpainted bird, floral, insect design on porcelain. This lovely round open work basket measures 4-1/4" in diameter and stands 2" high. It is slightly flaired with soft green handles on either side. The Rothschild Bird design is featured in the center and inside open weave is white trimmed in gold. The scalloped edge on top is also trimmed with gold as is the base. Outside weave of bowl is white trimmed with pink. The underside of base is marked in blue: Herend Handpainted Hungary #7413/RO. There are no chips or cracks - MINT!
