The GREEN BRIAR SERIES was an annual,dated Limited Edition of holiday cup plates introduced in 1980 and ran until 1996 for the Thornton W. Burgess Society. The commemorative series features the Burgess animal characters celebrating in specific locations from his stories such as Smiling Pool, Green Forest and the Crooked Little Path. Each 3-1/2" diameter plate was designed by Nina Sutton and the molds were engraved by artist/engraver Alvin A. White and his initials are stamped on each plate. All cup plates are hand-pressed in lead crystal by Pairpoint Glass Co. of Sagamore, Mass. (USA). This 1987 cup plate (PP#476)from the Thornton Burgess GREEN BRIAR series features Peter Rabbit procaliming "Home - The Most Beautiful Place in the World"! Peter's hometown was Sandwich, MA. and in 1987 the town was celebrating it's 350th anniversary. The 30 scallop edge plate is amethyst, in MINT condition and comes the original pamphlet...sorry not in box.
