This hand-blown clear crystal goblet was produced and issued in 1970 by Stuart Crystal (England). The cased goblet commemorates the 350th anniversary voyage of the Mayflower from Plymouth, England to Plymouth, Mass. in America.
The goblet stands approximately 7" high,3-3/4" in diameter at the top rim and the stem has a lovely spiral air twist. It comes in a blue satin presentation box with a framed certificate No. 80 of a Limited Edition of 500 signed by C.W. Stuart,Director. Also a brochure from Stuart and Sons, Ltd. about the history of the Mayflower. The box has a picture of the ship on the outside cover and inside top cover ~ has a few minor scuff marks, but overall in excellent condition.
The goblet engraving reads: "Thus out of small beginnings" with an engraved Mayflower ship and banner "1620 Mayflower 1970" on the front and "William Bradford 1590-1657" and banner "Plymouth 6 September 1620, The Pilgrim Fathers, Cape Cod 9 November 1620" on the backside. The original Stuart Crystal label is on the goblet which is etched on base with No. 80. The goblet has never been displayed out of the case.
The condiiton is PRISTINE as it has been a pride of my art glass collection. It would certainly be a wonderful addition to any nautical or historical themed display.
