Dorchester Pottery was made in Dorchester, MA. (USA) from 1898 to 1979. This rare pattern features a beautifully decorated lily of the valley design in the center of the covered pot (both sides) on a blue background. The Lily of the Valley pattern was made for Charlie Hill's sister, Lilly Yeaton, who sold the pottery in a little room at the pottery. The covered pot measures 4.50" high and 7" in width at handles and inside is clean and unscratched. The base is marked with DORCHESTER STONEWARE, C.A.H. (Charles A. Hill, decorator),the DORCHESTER POTTERY circular stamp and EHH in a blue background (for Ethel Hill Henderson, Mr. Hill's sister~included after her death in 1971)and N. Ricci fecit. There are no chips, repairs although there is one very small shrinkage line on underside of top cover from factory firing. (see picture-this is very common, but I want to make buyer advised) The glaze is a smooth, even matte finish with no misses or crawl. This is a wonderful piece to add to any Dorchester and/or pottery collection.
