The GREEN BRIAR SERIES was an annual,dated Limited Edition of holiday cup plates introduced in 1980 and ran until 1996 for the Thornton W. Burgess Society. The commemorative series features the Burgess animal characters celebrating in specific locations from his stories such as Smiling Pool, Green Forest and the Crooked Little Path. Each 3-1/2" diameter plate was designed by Nina Sutton and the molds were engraved by artist/engraver Alvin A. White and his initials are stamped on each plate. All cup plates are hand-pressed in lead crystal by Pairpoint Glass Co. of Sagamore, Mass. (USA). This 1985 cup plate (PP#350) from the Thornton Burgess GREEN BRIAR series is a copper blue, special etched 30 scallop edge and sixth in the annual Limited Edition series. It features a birthday celebration of 75 years for Peter Rabbit and Old Mother West Wind. Peter jumps for joy with his friends as they dance around the old stump in the Briar Patch where the 1985 date appears. The plate is in MINT condition and comes with a copy of the original pamphlet...sorry not in box.
