Vintage Harvard A-A News Vol. 8, No. 9 features the annual Harvard/Yale game. The rivalry began on November 13, 1875 and as of November 2007, 124 games have been played...Yale has won 65, Harvard 51 and 8 games ended in ties. This 11/25/1933 game was their 52nd meeting and won by Harvard 19-6 at Harvard Stadium, Cambridge, MA. The 100 page softcover booklet measures 9" x 12" with an art deco cover featuring an illustration of people dressed in their best entering the stadium in Sections 30-37 by A.B. Savrann. (Note: the Yale dog in the center) Besides the black and white pictures of the Harvard and Yale team players, there are wonderful articles, one of which features the Harvard Campus 30 Years apart 1903 and 1933 which includes photos of the many improvements. In addition, there are two pages featuring the Harvard and Yale songs and wonderful period ads from Brooks Brothers, Chesterfield, Prudential Ins. Co., RH Searns, Lucien Lelong, Gunther and Eastman Kodak. The covers show wear and a few small tears and creasing...the inside pages are in good condition, have not yellowed, although there is some minor water staining at the top right corner of many and creases on the rightside bottom . A wonderful piece of history! |
