Condition: Used Manufacturer: Hawkes
The Hawkes Glass Works was established in 1880 in Corning, N.Y. and incorporated in 1890 as T.G. Hawkes and Co. They were one of the finer American cut glass companies during the American Brilliant Period and in their beginning the pieces they produced had no trademarks until 1920. During the early years, Hawkes obtained most of its blanks from the Steuben Glass Works. I do not know the name of this pattern as it was a very early design. According to Replacements, Ltd. it is "HAW16" ~ deep cut round bowl ~ strawberry diamond cut criss-cross with chain of fan designs on bowl. The stem is paneled with notchings and the base is cut with a 24 pint rayed star. Each sherry glass measures approximately 3.75" high, the cut glass is sharp and heavy. A great pair of cut glss sherry stems from the American Brilliant Period by Hawkes...no chips, cracks, repairs. MINT
