1890s LIMOGES 6pc PORCELAIN GAME BIRD PLATE SET -
This VICTORIAN OVAL PORCELAIN GAME DECORATED PLATTER AND SIX PLATE SET is handpainted and dates from the decade of the 1890s. It is back stamped with the CFH/GDM mark (1890-1900, LIMOGES FRANCE) of the French porcelain maker GERARD, DUFRAISSEL & CIE (Green Mark 1). It features various game birds on the ground. The fancy sculpted border is decorated with gold paint (some wear on the gold around the edges of the plates, more extensive on the platter). The platter is about 17 ¾ inches long, 12 inches wide and the plates are about 6 inches in diameter.
NOTE; Since the intial listing, the platter was damaged and is being sold for display (as repaired) only and is not considered in the pricing of the balance of the plate set.
LIMOGES PORCELAIN PLATE AHRENFELDT AHR159 -
This fine porcelain china Dinner Plate features a transferware green rim and center with tan flowers and scrolls. It was made by the French Limoges firm of Charles Ahrenfeldt and is marked on the bottom with their logo. The top, rim and foot are all trimmed in gold. It is about 10-7/8 inches in diameter with no chips or cracks. They have just a few very light knife marks but most are hardly noticeable. Priced per piece, you can order up to the quantity still available.
1896 LIMOGES FRANCE 5 WELL OYSTER PLATE -
This Oyster Plate features a lovely floral transferware border decoration and a gold painted and decorated rim. It is from the French firm AHRENDELDT (1859 to 1969) and was made in 1896 as determined by the back marks. The porcelain mark is the green Mark 5 and reads CA FRANCE DEPOSE. The decorating mark is the green Mark 3 and reads CA LIMOGES FRANCE inside a double circle. It is about 9 ¼ inches in diameter and has no chips or cracks.
MARTHA WASHINGTON HAND PAINTED WHITEHOUSE CHINA PLATE -
This plate is a late Victorian copy of the original Whitehouse China given to Martha Washington in 1796. It was made to celebrate the Centennial of the Declaration of Independence. It is handpainted and features a snake circling the rim with a gray belly and cobalt blue back highlighted with gold scaling. Inside the chain links are the names of the fifteen states of the Union in 1796. The center features the initials MW (Martha Washington) against a gilded sunburst. Below this is a ribbon with the motto DECUS ET TUTAMEN AB ILLO (Honor and protection comes from him). It is about 7 ½ inches in diameter and marked on the back S&S LIMOGES FRANCE. The gold rays are worn and there is a tight hairline crack on the rim that is about 1 ¼ inch long (see photo).
