Antique Gypsy Tambourine Percussion Piece
This decorative percussion piece is in good condition to be played. The skin is tight and the sound is great. It is simply made and all of its 8 brass bells and 9 jangles are in place. The bells are attached by twisted wire. The rim is molded wood with brass studs. The outside of the rim is dark brown and the inner side is a burgundy red. This music instrument is in its unpolished original state. I suspect it belonged to the European gypsies that met every year for a jamboree in the South of France. The wooden ring is 9 inches (22cm) in diameter and 2 inches (5 ½ cm) in height. It’s about the size of a dinner plate. Although this authentic tambourine is playable it also would make a romantic informal decoration
