This antique French spice can is Lithographed tin. The main colors are petrol and red. It is entirely covered with decor. The front picture shows a cute butcher with a fat pig in a kitchen. Pots, pans and sausages are hanging on the walls. Another panel shows exhibition medals. The third panel explains in French that this spice mixture is especially good for aiding digestion and avoiding the gout. The top of the lid shows a distinguished gentleman circled by the words “Produits Rabelais E.R.G.” There is rust at the bottom of the tin and some of the color is gone, especially around the top edge of the lid. The rich decoration on this tin makes it a very decorative collector's piece. The tin is 2 ¾ inches (7 cm) high and has a diameter of 1 ½ inches (3.8cm).
