It is black wool with a red pom-pom on the top. The rim is trimmed with two rows of red cord. At the front of the hat is an emblem of an anchor embroidered in heavy tarnished metallic gold thread. There is a white cord buttoned to one side of the hat that has an unknown function. A serial number printed on the inside and a makers symbol "Joly Chamoin, Chalons/Soane". The condition is very good. The inner circumference of the hat is 22 inches (56cm). The diameter of the hat is 10 ¼ inches (26cm).
