Many of the very old Japan items were not fired on finish and this guy is one of them.You can only used plain water to clean him.He does have paint wear but is not damaged at all.The red mark most likely dates him to Occupied Japan.I say this because I was at an estate auction many years ago with a huge collection of salt and pepper shakers and they had about 20 or more Occupied Japan still in the original shipping box and the boxes were marked Occupied Japan but the shakers were only marked Japan in red.He is about 1 3/8" tall. |
