Nathaniel Hawthorne Twice Told Tales 1800's
Offering this lovely old book titled 'Twice Told Tales', by Nathaniel Hawthorne, published by H M Caldwell Publisher, New York, no publish date, but is approximately late 1800's. Green cloth hardboards with ornate gold lettering and victorian decoration on front with a lovely color lithograph at the top. Good condition, light edge wear, no spine cracks, there are two tiny holes on back bottom side edge of spine. Pages are clean and tight, previous owner signed inside front blank page and it has also been mended with archival tape where page came away from the book, there is a tiny line stain at top inside margin on about the first 60 pages - does not come anywhere near the printing and on page 34-35 on the bottom third of page towards inside seam it looks as if the pages stuck together and the top of layer of page 34 is missing so there are about 9 lines that are missing the last two to three words; this must have happened during the printing process as there are no stains or marks. Contains three full page engravings plus an engraving of Hawthorne facing title page. A wonderful book for your collection and enjoyment!

Blue cloth hardboards with impressed detailed lettering and decoration in gold gilt on front and spine. Good condition on boards, no spine cracks, very minimal wear on spine edges and corners, no fading, one teeny bubble of cloth on back top area. Hand cut pages are hand tied, good condition, clean, no tears or scribbles; gold gilt on top page edges. Only imperfection is on the two pages where original silk book ribbon has set all these years, left a shadow stain in the inner margin. Original owner signed inside front cover. Spine is secure and straight. A beautiful 103 year old book filled with wonderful stories and illustrations, a must have for your collection!
