Condition: Very Good
Publisher: Theo. Audel & Co. New York N. Y.
This is a nice set of Audels with a complete set of 4 volumes printed and copyright in 1923, 1939, 1945, 1951 - printed 1951. One of my favorite reference book sets for information on building and carpentry technics from the 1920's to the 1950's era. The 1st volume is very good for information on tools of that days and how to use and care for them. Each book is 5" x 6.7" has a black leather like pressed cloth hard boards, gold gilt spine lettering and red color page edges. This is the first printing of the hard back Audels Carpenters sets, the earlier sets had semi-soft covers. After 1951 printing like this one with the gold gilt spine lettering, the following years gold gilt was not used, so this is the last of it's type in terms of spine lettering. All are in very good condition, covers are clean, spines are tight and straight Page edges are tipped in red, only very slight red color fading of shade variations noted. Pages are clean, no scribbling or tears (exception blank end papers and inside covers have slight age toning. Good tight bindings.
A nice set of books covering measuring and cutting tools, steel square, cutting tools, saw sharpening, nails, screws, joinery, furniture, math, drawings, estimating, house and roof framing, layout, foundations, doors, windows, stair building, millwork, painting, etc. Lots of good information.
