Circa: early 1900's Condition: Good Manufacturer: Phoenix Mfg. Co.
This is a very nice, clean, heavy duty 5" capacity C-Clamps, marked "PHOENIX 5 MFG. CO.". As you can see in the pictures the clamp is in clean shape, no rust or some pitting, some minor casting imperfections noted. We note that the cast steel frame is slightly bent, as shown in the pictures, but seems to have reasonable jaw/swivel pad alignment when clamping a part inside. This antique clamp has about 0% of the paint left on it. This clamp weighs 2 pounds, and has an 8" long frame and the thickness at the clamp pad is 1.3" diameter, and the threaded screw is 1/2" diameter. Because of the shape of this clamps' frame, the capacity may be about 1/2" less than 5" because of the inside angle of the throat of the clamp, and the size of the swivel pad on the screw. A very well made clamp, by a well known tool maker!
