Black Americana or Memorabilia refers to a variety of items relating to African Americans, dating back to the early days of slavery. Most of these items depicted African Americans in a prejudicial, stereotypical, and derogatory manner, especially from the 1900's to the 1950's. However, public outrage during the 1960's along with the Civil Rights Movement, brought this practice to a halt. Today, Black Memorabilia is considered highly collectible, and is a reminder of America's not so pleasant past.

The Gold Dust tin was unopened, but I had to drill a hole in bottom to remove the contents as the p.o. will not permit mailing without a DNR permit. The front of tin is in good display condition; side & back paper is smudged. It is 4.75 tall x 3 wide. Next is the Gold Dust box of washing soap, (contents removed). Last is a small Gold Dust sign, pic #6, (it has old state abbreviation on it, Todd Brothers Company, Waukesha, Wis., likely from the 60's). First is the small box of washing powder, (contents have been removed via small drill hole in bottom). Box is in good display condition and features two black figures. Print is dated 1922, and features a Fairbanks Washing Powder box with a meat grinder. Print is loosely placed in this antique frame, (you can remove and put in another frame, or secure print in this frame). Nice colors on the print, and backside also has a nice print on it.
