Vintage Nelson McCoy Pottery stoneware cookie jar. c.1939. 'Bean Pot' style cookie jar. Shown in Vol. 11 of the McCoy series books, p. 221, row 2. These cookie jars only came in black and ivory, and I had the black one too, but sold it awhile ago. This one is in very good display condition; just missing a bit of the original cold paint, and that is it for visible flaws. As for unnoticeable flaws, the underside of the lid has a chip, but when lid is in place, it is not visible, so who cares! It also has one glaze pop on interior lip of jar, but this doesn't show when the lid is on. Personally, I would call this jar in 'good vintage' condition for a jar that is now over 70 years old! Guaranteed to be authentic, vintage McCoy pottery! |
