Book06-7

Book "A Distant Trumpet" Horgan This is a 1960 printing of this Paul Horgan historical novel. It was first published in 1951. The story begins in 1864 when Lincoln's train goes through a small southwestern village. Lincoln give a child an army cap. The story takes this child through West Point and on to service and settlements in the West. At the end, he still has the hat. Lots of action and drama. Like all Horgan's work, it holds interest until the final page.
There is no dust cover. The cover is gray, with a black binding covering. Some slight shelf wear. There are tan stains on the blank frontis page and the blank back page. The text is OK. 631 pages & postscript. Slight shaking, but the binding is intact.
Photos to follow.

Circa: 1960

Book06-11-1152373052

The Magic Animal The Magic Animal is a very controversial book, published in 1968. The author was a renowned scientist whose talents ranged from marine biology to work done for NASA and the Defense Department's Chemical and Radiological Warfare Division. BUT, here he is the cricic of modern man (the magic animal).
The jacket shows shelf wear, with more at the top of the spine. The cover is in good shape, with little wear at the base of the spine, but with a 1/3" tear at the top of the spine, There is also a small brown spot at the lower edge of the front. Pages are good no visible damage. Spine is firm.
This would be a great gift for the novice 1st edition collector - not perfect, but in acceptable condition. Photos will follow soon.
