Here is a pretty antique Victorian ring in a small size - 5 1/2 - circa 1850-60s. Simple, yet elegant. An oval cabachon amethyst sits at an angle on the mounting. At each end is a small diamond. The amethyst is 6mm long.
There is engraving inside the ring, - hard to read. A "M" is at the beginning of this. The gold in not marked, but tested at about 13-15K. Many of the American crafted jewelry of this time does not carry a karat mark. Odd number (13-15, etc) karats are common when these are tested. Condition is very good.
