| This is probably one of the rarest bills I have in my inventory. It is a 1938 Series Cuban 1 Peso silver certificate. Cuban currency is very rare due to the fact that Cuba is a communist country that historically required any visitor to the country to exchange outside currency into exchange certificates that had no monetary value outside the country. The goal was to prevent Cuban currency from ever leaving Cuba. Today, visitors can carry Cuban currency inside the country but are required to return all unused money in their possession at the airport before being granted permission to leave. So, it is extremely rare to find a bill such as this today. This bill is in excellent condition with only one break in the border on the lower left. No obvious fold lines and only minor fading of the colors. All print on the bill is perfectly legible. A most excellent and rare find. |
