This Corning Visions Vision Visionware is actually 2 pans in one. You get a 1.5 quart amber glass pot with the lid, and an insert to convert to a double boiler.
Directions for use: 1. Pour 250 ml (1 cup) of water into the saucepan. DO NOT ALLOW THE WATER TO TOUCH THE BOTTOM OF THE UPPER BOWL.
2. Position the upper bowl into the saucepan so the lug-handles are in line with the long saucepan handle.
3. Bring the water in the saucepan to a boil, and then adjust the heat so the water maintains a slow, gentle boiling action. It is only necessary to have the water steaming. IF THE WATER EVAPORATES DURING COOKING, THE HEAT IS TOO HIGH. Additional water may be added, if necessary.
4. Cooking may be started by placing the upper bowl on direct heat, then position in saucepan (see point #2).
Cautions: * Avoid boilovers ( water from the saucepan boiling up the sides and overflowing)
* The saucepan musy be clean and free of mineral deposits ( a build-up of minerals from hard water). Washing the saucepan thoroughly after each use will help avoid these deposits. HINT: Prevent mineral build-up by adding 1 mL (1/4 teaspoon) Cream of Tartar to the water during cooking)
* Always keep the water level below the bottom of the upper bowl
* The lug-handles on the upper bowl may be hot. Use pot holders. |
