One site had to say on collecting Nevil Shute's work: "Now is an extremely good time to start a Nevil Shute collection. Although prices have about doubled in the last few years, his titles are still relatively modest in comparison with other "hot" authors. However, since prices are increasing about 30% per year, delay will be costly."
Shute, Nevil KINDLING New York: William Morrow & Company, 1938. First U.S. edition. Oatmeal-colored cloth, a gilt-titled maroon rule-border band to the front cover and gilt spine titles bordered by maroon rules. Endpapers uniformly tanned, red-dyed top edge, other edges darkened. Tight. Mild soiling and tanning to the covers, mostly in very narrow bands top and bottom edges, else a very good copy; lacking the dust jacket. An early and scarce novel, first published in the U.K. as RUINED CITY. |
