Old 6,2 x 9 inches print after a painting by Leon Couturier from the Cie des Messageries Maritimes in Paris.
The Messageries Maritimes is an old French maritime company. It was originally created in 1851 as Messageries Nationales, later called Messageries Impériales, and in 1871, Compagnie des Messageries Maritimes.
Hans written inscriptions tell that the vessel arrived Suez. Signed by the Captain....

Ca. 1857: A small boat with a few ladies and gentlemen rowing towards the Steamer Leviathan. A few sailing boats near the steamer.
Size of the actual print: 8.5 in. x 5.8 in., 11 in. x 8.8 in. including margins.
Blue color has been added to the etching by lithography print.
The original looks better than the image on screen.
In August 1857 the vessel was named Leviathan. But it was...
