Rocket Mail on Way to Moon. Historical importance. Signed by famous Inventor. Unusual and rather scarce mail: 1971 Rocket mail, Nr. 8 of a total 30 sent. Hand-signed by the important Austrian inventor Friedrich Schmidl who became famous world wide.

Attached is a yellow sticker "2. 2. 1932 Postrakete "V7" – 2.2. 197 Apollo 14 Mond" – canceled by a "BRONX N,Y, 17" - cancellation.

Austrian Rocket Mail. Commemorative Cancellations. Decorative postage cover commemorating the launch of the world’s first postal rocket in Austria in 1931.

September 9, 1931: Friedrich Schmiedl started the world’s first rocket-mail service in Austria. Schmiedl’s Post Rocket R1 delivered 333 letters from Hochtroetsch to Semriach. This rocket-mail service continued until March 1933.

Only 600 such covers exist. Very fine condition.

1928: Zeppelin in Hangar. Postcard after Etching. Unused postcard depicting the Zeppelin Airship coming out of the hangar. L.Z. 127 Ascent at Friedrichshafen, Sept. 18th 1928.

It is a photogravure printing after an etching by D. H. Beier.

Slight wear at the borders otherwise clean and fresh.

This is a lithographed postcard, designed by Jules Courvoisier ( artist signed ) and has been issued for fundraising ( Schweizer Nationalspende ).

Courvoisier was famous as designer for posters.

1928: LZ.127 Zeppelin Mail Speyer to New York L.Z. 127: 2 Reichsmark and 15 Pfennig on a postcard sent Speyer to New York ( German Consulate ).

The sender asks the Consulate to send this card back to him as he doesn’t know anybody in the States but wants a cancellation on this scarce 2 RM stamp.

High catalogue value. Minor aging.

 

1929: First Round the World Zeppelin Mail. 1929: Postcard to Mr. Reno Trippelsdorf ( Rittmeister ), famous for some popular publications, such as the first comprehensive Austrian promotional stamp catalogue by Reno Trippelsdorf in 1933.

The postcard shows the Whitehall Building, Aquarium and Battery Park in New York City.
