Vintage Shell and Rhinestones Pin and Earrings Set Cut cowrie shells form a unique flower pin. A light blue rhinestone graces the center. Matching earrings have screw backs. Pin measures almost 1.75 inches across. Earrings each measure 7/8 inch across. The interior of the cowrie shells is a dusty mauve, a lovely contrast to the creamy exterior. Very good condition.

Shades of ocean blue run from almost white to very deep, almost like a royal blue. The deep blue swirled teardrop glass beads are especially lovely, and so are the light blue baroque plastic beads that have an aurora borealis finish. Necklace adjusts from 14.5 to 16.5 inches. Blue Beads Necklace and Earrings Set Marked JAPAN Shades of blue in a three-strand necklace: light royal (or cadet) blue, dusty blue in a pearlized finish, and a slightly periwinkle shade. Necklace has goldtone end pieces. Necklace adjusts from 19 to 21 inches with a fish hook clasp. Back of clasp is marked JAPAN. The clip earrings that accompany it match it well enough but I don’t think they were original to the set. They measures 1 inch high and appear to be of a later vintage than the necklace. Very good condition. Circa mid-twentieth century; earrings could be 1970s.

Vintage Handicraft Thunderbird Necklace Safety Pin Beads Set Making jewelry from small safety pins and tiny glass seed beads was once a popular hobby. This set is particularly well-made. The necklace portrays a Native American thunderbird in blue, green, yellow, black and red against a white background. Centerpiece (thunderbird) portion measures 2.75 by almost 3 inches. The goldtone safety pins and multi-colored beads are also used to form the chain that goes around the neck, which is 28 inches long. The matching clip earrings measure 1.5 inches form top to bottom. I noticed that some of the safety pins were wired shut with fine copper wire and also coated with a hard glue on the reverse side where it is not visible. This attention to detail sets this necklace and earrings apart from others that are made from the same materials but not with the same care. Very good condition. Estimated circa 1950s – 1970s.
